Drug and Alcohol Training and Consultancy (DATAC) Services was set up by Les Johnston following his retiral from Grampian Police after serving 30 years. During the last 6 years of his service he was the Force Drugs Co-ordinator, tasked with a forcewide responsibility for all non-enforcement drugs issues, including drug and alcohol awareness/education.

He has been involved in numerous National Drugs Committees and has given presentations at several National Drugs Conferences, as well as having been on the organising committee of a number of National Conferences. He has wide experience in the development of action plans and national policies in relation to drug and alcohol issues. He also has considerable experience in training, having been a qualified Police Advanced Driving Instructor and having served for three years as an instructor at the renowned Scottish Police College, at Tulliallan Castle in Fife.

Throughout his police service, and particularly in his capacity as Force Drugs Co-ordinator, he has developed vast experience, knowledge and expertise in matters of drug and alcohol misuse and, on leaving the police service, it seemed appropriate to use that experience, knowledge and expertise for the benefit of others.

Accordingly, clients using DATAC Services can be assured that all training and consultancy will be based on extensive experience, ranging from front-line contact with drug and alcohol users through to dealing with strategy and policy issues.

Drug and Alcohol Training and Consultancy Services is a member of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (www.scdi.org.uk) and Aberdeen Entrepreneurs (www.aberdeenentrepreneurs.co.uk). As well as being a member of Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce (www.agcc.co.uk), Les Johnston is a tutor with the Chamber and tutors on their Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training courses. Les has also successfully completed his Offshore Survival Training and is in a position to offer Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training to the offshore oil and gas industry.
